About the Origin: Sierra Nevada -Colombia

Coffee production in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta is a significant endeavor spread across three departments in Colombia: La Guajira, El Magdalena, and El Cesar, all nestled within the breathtaking Sierra Nevada mountain range.

Notably, coffee cultivation isn't solely the domain of peasants; it also involves active participation from indigenous communities. Within the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, four indigenous ethnic groups—Arhuacos, Koguis, Wiwas, and Kankuamos—play a crucial role. Among these communities, some have developed their own top-quality products, with coffee standing out as one of their specialties.

The primary coffee producers within the Sierra Nevada operate within what's known as the "Coffee Belt of the Caribbean." This region encompasses four cities in the Magdalena department: Cienaga, Santa Marta, Fundacion, and Aracataca.
